OVERVIEW
In 2019 I co-founded an online social justice education program which graduated 500 people in three years. I co-created and facilitated three 4-month foundational courses. With more than 30 staff and a cooperative structure, the school has operated entirely word of mouth. It focuses on providing free, accessible education about the current economic system and social crises.
ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
As a founding member of the organisation, I co-developed the organisational structure of the school. This included a participatory model in which any graduates from our core course could join the school as volunteer staff. We quickly grew to a volunteer staff of over 30, with teams developing additional courses, facilitating numerous simultaneous cohorts of our core courses, running a newsletter, and translating our materials into Spanish.
We also collectively designing a horizontal governance system, and developed an assembly model that facilitated conversation on decisions instead of a flattened "yes-or-no" voting system. This approach fostered better ideas, as well as a sense of ownership and mutual empowerment within the organisation.
As an active member of numerous teams, I ran daily operations for the organisation, facilitated courses in English and Spanish, worked on translation and interpretation, and built curriculum.
